Cardale Mk2 & Mk3 Spring Drum Top Bracket Roller
- 1 x Cardale Drum top bracket roller, made from nylon. There are 2 fitted on a door, so always best to replace both. Please note, the centre metal bush is not included and you will need to reuse your original.
- Suits Doors fitted between 1968 - 1979
- This part fits into the top brackets and guides the cable which runs from the central drum unit horizontally, down vertically to the side roller which runs up and down the side tracks. Because of the angles which the cables run on, the front lip is worn down on this part and then broken off by the cable (see image 8). This causes the cable to run on the metal stud in the centre and makes the door extremely stiff to use. Hence why this part needs to be replaced.
- Roller diameter 50mm
- Thickness 6mm
- Internal Diameter 16.5mm approx
- One side of the roller has a lip around the internal diameter - see images
- This is an obsolete part, no longer made by Cardale, we have a small quantity available from for sale
- Please note, this roller was never designed to be replaced on this door. It can be replaced (our fitters often do), and a brief guide is below with corresponding images to assist:
1. Lock up the spring tension so the cables remain slack
2. Remove the fixing bolt from the centre of the bracket on the top of the lift arm
3. Using a 13mm drill bit, or a grinder, drill out/remove the lip that protrudes through the bracket which will allow you to remove the roller DO NOT DRILL TOO MUCH MATERIAL OUT AS YOU NEED TO RETAIN AND REUSE THE CENTRE BUSH (image 5 & 6)
4. Remove the remaining 2 fixing screws
5. Gently pull the bracket away from the frame - this will allow you to push the roller and fixing bush through the bracket completely
6. Make a note of which way the roller came off, as they are different on both sides then discard the old roller
7. Slot the centre bush back through the new roller and push it all back through the hole in the bracket
8. Put the bracket back to the frame, reinstall the 3 fixing screws - YOU WILL NEED TO FIT A WASHER OVER THE CENTRE FIXING DUE TO IT BEING DRILLED OUT ON REMOVAL (image 9)
